OCTOBER
Waterscene at the Green
Hello
Fellow Divers,
The
summer has , unfortunately, drawn far too quickly to a close as
September is ending and here we are with October about to
start. But don't be alarmed, just because summer is winding down,
diving here at Exotic Aquatics sure isn't.
What
we lose in weather here topside in the Pacific Northwest as the
summer months fade away, we gain in visibility underwater. Summer
may be our best months weather wise but they are generally our worst
months in regards to vis. Now is the perfect time to cash in on
what sunny weather we have left and enjoy the increasingly excellent
visibility.
Our
schedule here at Exotic Aquatics is jam packed with classes and
excursions alike. The website www.exoticaquaticsscuba.com
is fully updated with all the fall excitement. Please do go
check it out for yourself and see what's new and alluring.
Perhaps
the thought of becoming a Divemaster has crossed your mind as of
late. What better time to take that first step into the Professional
dive scene with your Divemaster certification. The prerequisites
are an Open Water/Advanced Open Water Certification, Rescue Diver
Certification, Emergency First Responder (EFR) and/or CPR Certification.
The certification entails book work in the Encyclopedia of Recreational
Diving and the Divemaster Manual, seven tests running the diving
knowledge gamut, physical fitness tests in the pool, practical application
pool sessions, and mapping of a local dive site. Becoming a Divemaster
is a process, demanding a minimum of 60 logged dives by the time
of application, and can be completed in as little as a month or
over the period of a couple of months depending on ones schedule.
Speaking
of Divemasters, we have numerous individuals working on and finishing
up their certifications as we speak. It was really great to have
a number of up and coming professional dive staff with us in the
pool the other day honing their skills and demonstrating their competency.
Congratulations are in order to our newest Divemasters, Leah Julius,
Alyssa Dyke, Leslie Wukstich, and Tom Hannuksela . After completing
all the components the certification demands, they have sent in
their applications, and are eagerly awaiting their shiny new cards.
Congrats too ALL ! We also want to congratulate 3 of our dive pros
that have upgraded their skills to Assistant Instructor, Good Job!!
Jon Kroman, JCFigueroa, and Bruce Claiborne. The next up an coming
Assisant Instructor is Ryan Amberfield.
If
a full fledged class sounds like too much for first days of fall
then a Specialty is the perfect choice. Remember that if you sign
up for the specialty of the month you receive 10% off of the price
of tuition for the course: August wasWreck Diver Month had
we had a great time up at the wrecks in Nanimo Diver Month. October
is Drysuit Specialty of the Month, time to get ready for winter
diving.
As
the weather declines and the prospect of diving in the rain and
the cold is becoming more and more of a reality, the idea of Drysuit
Diving may be sounding even better. Just for your diving comfort
and pleasure we have numerous dates for Drysuit Orientations and
Specialties scheduled as well. Explore the gorgeous waters of the
Pacific Northwest in a revolutionary way: Warm and Dry! Nothing
quite compares to the sensation of diving dry, try it out for yourself
today. If for some reason the dates listed aren't convenient for
you, give us a call at the shop. We are in the Pool Wednesday nights
and Sunday mornings and would love to get you in the water and on
your way to becoming a Drysuit Diver.
Our
excursions are just as numerous as ever, with dates to Sunde Rock,
Salt Creek, and Edmonds Underwater Park already on the books. Local
boat dives are still in full swing on the with the addition of new
adventures with Pacific Adventures. Come join us on the Pacific
Adventures boat, the Down Time, and experience the spectacular diving
on the Hood Canal . While the drive to the Olympic Peninsula is
a little farther than the quick jaunt down to the public dock, the
experience is wholly worth it. We have been getting nothing but
rave reviews about the plush and spacious dive boat, the knowledgeable
captain and staff onboard and of the veritable feast on deck available
pre and post dive. The reviews of the dive sites themselves have
been even more complimentary and impressive with speak of great
visibility, and a plethora of sea life. People have been coming
back from their dives with Pacific Adventures with smiles and great
reviews, and we are a discerning bunch of divers here at Exotic
Aquatics.
Be
it by way of a class to continue your education, or an excursion
to just get out and enjoy the water, we would love to help you in
your diving endeavours. Feel free to contact us in whatever mode
is most convenient: give us a call at (206) 842-1980 or (866) 842-1980,
email us at info@exoticaquaticsscuba.com, check us out online at
www.exoticaquaticsscuba.com , or stop by the shop
at 146 Winslow Way W , Bainbridge Island , Wa .
So
come out and enjoy the end of summer with us. Buddy up and go down
with Exotic Aquatics!
